Earth Day Celebration Tours
In keeping with The Earth Day Networks ambitious goal of achieving climate and environmental literacy by Earth Day 2020, the University of Washington Center for Integrated Design (CID) and Youth Environmental Awareness (YEA) are excited to help by offering FREE 2017 Earth Day tours of the Bullitt Center.
The CID is proud to be a tenant in the Bullitt Center the worlds greenest commercial office building located in Seattle's bustling Capitol Hill District. In celebration of Earth Day, the UW CID, YEA and the Bullitt Foundation are offering FREE guided tours of the Bullitt Center - a showcase for 21st century super buildings and a model for true sustainability. Geared for all ages, this walking tour will take guests through a 50,000 sq. ft. certified living office building. Visitors will learn how integrated building systems enable the Bullitt Center to, produce more energy than it uses (net positive energy), take care of all of its water needs on site (net zero water), and promote community health (built with access to sunlight and fresh air and no toxic chemicals).
Tours will begin at the entrance located at 1501 E. Madison Ave. and are available to all ages and are accessible for those with limited mobility. Strollers are NOT permitted on tours and can be parked in the lobby. A typical tour lasts just over an hour. If you or a member of your group needs mobility accommodation, please email Deborah Sigler at dcommons@uw.edu, prior to your tour.
