OUR TOWN
The Black Dog Arts Coalition in association with the Sallal Grange presents Theatre Black Dog's Production of Thornton Wilder's Pulitzer Prize Winning Classic, Our Town. This well known classic of life in a New Hampshire small town, Grovers Corners, opens Friday April 14th and runs through Sunday April 30th at the Sallal Grange, in North Bend.

The play features actors from Seattle, the Eastside, Des Moines, Maple Valley, North Bend and Snoqualmie.  Directed by Susan Bradford, the play is sponsored by The Black Dog Arts Coalition. (a 501(c)(3) non-profit) This is the first time in years the company has performed in another venue away from its home base, The Black Dog Arts CafĂ©, in Snoqualmie.

Our Town is performed in three acts: Daily Life, Love and Marriage, and finally Death and Eternity. Focusing on two families, the Gibbs and Webbs, whose teenage children, George and Emily, fall in love. The play follows them through the awkwardness of courtship to a loving marriage and finally the eventuality of loss in the last act. The play is a beautiful take on the universality of life and how human beings live out their daily lives. Wilder's message is that the daily life is the most precious and as human beings, we don't often get this message until it's too late as Emily discovers in Act III. The sensitivity, simplicity, and humanity of the play is brought out by the Stage Manager, who guides the audience through the story. It is particularly relevant to our present day political climate and the anguish so much of our world finds itself in.

Our Town is performed in schools and all over the world at least one performance a day.

"Our Town is one of the finest achievements of the current stage a hauntingly beautiful play." ~Brooks Atkinson, New York Times
