Decades before indie labels were the norm, Cris Williamson set out to correct the gender imbalance in the music business. In 1975, the twenty-something former schoolteacher recorded The Changer And The Changed for her radical new label, Olivia Records, the first woman-owned, woman-focused record company. Today, that recording remains one of the best-selling independent releases of all time and Cris Williamson is a music pioneer of international stature. Her lyrics appear regularly in books and her albums are part of the curriculum for women's studies courses. Thousands around the world sing her "Song of the Soul" by campfires and places of worship. With more than 30 albums to her credit, Cris continues to tour regularly and, along with stops at intimate acoustic venues, career highlights include three sold-out shows at Carnegie Hall and headline bookings at many of the great folk festivals, including Newport, Kerrville, Moab and Vancouver. Shes a warm, open-hearted, inspiring live performer, full of humor, courage and positive vibes.
