Youth Unleashing Power 2017
Are you between the ages of 18-32 and living with HIV and/or Hepatitis C? Would you like to meet other positive youth, learn about peer organizing, and share your experiences?
How about doing all of that at a beautiful retreat on the shores of Lake Cowichan on Vancouver Island?
Join us four our second-annual national symposium that has been developed by and for positive youth.
This year's symposium will be held at the Cowichan Valley Outdoor Education and Conference Centre. The 4-day (5 nights) symposium will feature youth presenters from across Canada who are doing radical work for positive folks. There will be opportunities to access self care, make art, explore nature, take part in outdoor activities, and connect with other youth in a casual environment. A typical day might be having breakfast, going for a walk in the woods, taking in a few presentations or workshops, making some art, getting a massage, and relaxing by a fire on the beach after dinner.
There is no cost to participate. Meals, accommodation, and transportation from downtown Victoria are provided to participants.
If you are travelling within BC, YouthCo may be able to support you with travel costs. If you are coming from elsewhere in Canada and need assistance with travel, please speak to the organizers as there may be funding available.
This project has been made possible through generous funding from the STOP HIV/AIDS Program of the Island Health Authority. It is a project of the Vancouver Island Persons Living with HIV/AIDS Society (VPWAS, Vancouver Island) and YouthCo (Vancouver).
We acknowledge that this event takes place on the territories of the Ditidaht, Pacheedaht, Te'mexw, Snuneymuxw, WSÁNE, and Hul'qumi'num peoples.
