Get ready for a unique and intimate evening with one of New Orleans' true living legends! Tonight's show features sets by both Charles Neville & The New England Nevilles and the Charles Neville Quintet.

The Charles Neville Quintet

Charles Neville is best known as one of the legendary Neville Brothers, in whose recordings Charles' signature sax sound helps to insure his legacy as one of New Orleans' most important musical sons. In addition to his decades with the Neville Brothers, Charles has performed with other world-class artists including Johnny Ace, Little Walter, Jimmy Reed, Big Maybelle, James Brown, B.B. King, Bobby Blue Bland, Johnny Taylor, Clarence Carter, O.V. Wright and Ray Charles. Not ignoring his hometown, he has also played saxophone behind Allen Toussaint, James Booker, Ernie K-Doe and Huey "Piano" Smith. Tonight's show will feature not only Special Guest trombonist Delfeayo Marsalis, but some outstanding younger Nevilles and other musicians performing with one of the most easily recognizable voices to ever come from the Big Easy.

Delfeayo Marsalis is one of the top trombonists, composers and producers in jazz today. Known for his technical excellence, inventive mind and frequent touches of humor (Leonard Feather, Los Angeles Times), he is "one of the best, most imaginative and musical of the trombonists of his generation." (Philip Elwood, San Francisco Examiner.) In January 2011, Delfeayo and the Marsalis family (father Ellis and brothers Branford, Wynton and Jason) earned the nation's highest jazz honor: a National Endowment for the Arts Jazz Masters Award.

Mitch Stein is one of the West Coast's most in-demand keyboardists. He has played piano since the age of 4, is an alum of the Berklee College Of Music, and has performed and/or recorded with such jazz, blues, rock and funk greats as Dizzy Gillespie, Ella Fitzgerald, Paul McCandless, Frank Morgan, Jaco Pastorius, Bob Weir, David Grisman, Mike Clark, Joaquin Lievano, Gary Burton, Leland Sklar, Scott Page, Betty Carter, Freddie Hubbard, Karl Denson, Luther Tucker, Jeff "Skunk" Baxter, Max Weinberg, The Greyboy Allstars, John Lee Hooker, Little Jimmy Scott, Buddy Rich, Les Claypool, Tootie Heath, Zero, John Heard, Al Foster, Von and Chico Freeman, Steve Rodby, Papa John Creach, and many others.

Mark Brooks is one of New Orleans' premier bassists. He is a protégé of the late, great jazz master Alvin Batiste and several of his close friends including Branford Marsalis, Donald Harrison and Henry Butler. Mark has toured and performed with an array of Jazz, Blues, R&B, and Gospel artists such as Dr. John, the Neville Brothers, Henry Butler, Aaron Neville, Lou Rawls, the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Fats Dominos Band and others. Mark also possesses numerous recording credits and appearances on local and national television shows as well as festivals around the world. His music has been featured and he has performed onscreen in The Bridges of Madison County, The Regis and Kathy Lee Show, Ray, Treme and others.

Herlin Riley began drumming at the age of 3, and over the years has performed and recorded with world-class artists including Ahmad Jamal, George Benson, Harry Connick, Jr. and Marcus Roberts, and is likely best known for his decades-long work with Wynton Marsalis both on his own and with New York's Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra.

The New England Nevilles With Special Guest Delfeayo Marsalis

The following younger Nevilles will be joining Charles, Delfeayo and Mark for this special set:

Keyboardist Khalif Neville was born in New Orleans but grew up in Western Massachusetts. Throughout his years visiting New Orleans, he had the opportunity to study with Art Neville, Doctor John, and some of the instructors at the New Orleans Center For Creative Arts (NOCCA). Khalif has his own Hip-Hop group, and on his first CD, he recorded his interpretations of several Neville Brothers songs. Aside from playing with the Charles Neville group, he has performed with Greg Keorner, Gent Treadly, Avery Sharpe, Jon Suters and others.

Drummer Talyn Neville was born in Western Massachusetts, and attends the Pioneer Valley Performing Arts Charter School. Talyn began playing drums when he was six years old, and in addition to his work with Charles, has performed with Andy Wrba, Jon Suters, Hutch Hutchinson, the PVPA Rock and Pop Ensemble, the WOFA African Drum and Dance group and others.
