2017 Boston Marathon Fundraiser for Children's Hospital feat. Pants Yell! & Bent Shapes
Local legends Pants Yell! will reform on March 26th, 2017 for a special charity concert at Atwood's Tavern. Along with Boston rock heroes, Bent Shapes, the bands will play to support the Boston Marathon and Boston Childrens Hospital.
Pants Yell! were an indie-pop band formed at a Boston art school in 2003. Playing breezy songs with jangling guitars and shy vocals, the band released four albums and a 7 single, earning enthusiastic notices from the indie music press in America and overseas. Contemporaries such as Jens Lekman, Casiotone for the Painfully Alone, and Cass McCombs added them to local concert appearances and the band played regularly throughout the US, with tours in Sweden and the UK. With their final album, Received Pronunciation released on spiritual home Slumberland Records, Pants Yell! disbanded amicably in 2010. http://www.slumberlandrecords.com/catalog/show/127
Scene Reports. Regional Styles. It all seems charmingly antiquated these days, given how social networking cross-pollination has transcended space and time. But with a hyper-literate, tightly wound, and irreverent brand of post-collegiate rock, Bent Shapes may just be the most quintessentially Boston band of the last few years. http://www.bentshapes.com/
Newcomer Recital: Introducing Kelly Rooney will open the show.
Longtime Pants Yell! supporter, Heidi Smith, is running the Boston Marathon as part of the Boston Childrens Hospital Miles for Miracles Team. Ticket sales from this rare, all-ages matinee will go directly toward Heidis fundraising goal. Additional donations to Boston Childrens Hospital can be made through merchandise sales and door prizes at the event or here: http://fundraise.childrenshospital.org/goto/Heidi.
All ages. Kids 10 & under free.
