"HARAM IRAN"
Written by Jay Paul Deratany Directed By Rick Leidenfrost-Wilson Produced by Adam Weinstock/Creative Concept Productions In association with Red Spear LLC
HARAM IRAN is based on the true story about the trial and conviction of two Iranian teenagers in Mashad, Iran in 2005. Mahmoud Asgari and Ayaz Marhouni, fifteen and coming of age, struggle with their identities as minority Arab Iranians, and as typical teenagers longing to discover their place in the world. Ayaz is a passionate young intellectual, who is inspired and motivated by his mother, Mrs Marhouni. Her friend Shirin is a female Iranian lawyer, who was demoted and demoralized following the 1979 revolution. Shirin wants her friend's son to have so much more than she was afforded and will go to all lengths to protect him.

Emerging Artists returns with their one-of-a-kind festival. Visit the theater any evening during this three-week event, and you'll find yourself transported in a number of surprising ways: by a single performer embodying a whole host of characters; by a more experimental theater piece "done differently" that challenges and delights; by a cozy two-person show exploring relationships; or perhaps by a bouncy new musical that will have you humming. Emerging Artists has always been about new works, new talents, new voices. That's never been more evident than now.
NO REFUNDS will be granted.
