As we say goodbye to Juan Gabriel, his musical gifts will live long in our corazones. He experienced abuse in his family life and later struggled with these issues himself, his musical genius echoes the complexities of domestic violence. February is also the month we nationally recognize the violence that some young hearts experience.
In partnership with the Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center, the P.E.A.C.E. Initiative, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, calls for a celebration of Love and presents this exciting fundraiser to help us keep challenging the multi-faceted issues of relationship violence. Local celebrities will perform Juan Gabriel love songs that have enchanted and embraced our community for decades with the accompaniment of the Guadalupe's Azteca Mariachi to raise funds for the *P.E.A.C.E. Initiative *Putting an End to Abuse through Community Efforts.
Confirmed Singers include Cristina Balli, Executive Director, Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center, Irene Chavez, Executive Director, Maestro Entrepreneur Center and P.E.A.C.E. Board member, Ron Nirenberg, City Councilman, Dist. 8 and his wife Erika Prosper Nirenberg, Director, Customer Insights, HEB and Sonia Canales, Supplier Diversity, HEB, Lourdes Galvan, LULAC National Vice President for Women & former City Councilwoman Dist. 5 and Queta L. Marquez, Bexar County Veterans Service Officer. With more to come....
We also have a tremendous Silent Auction that offers wonderful opportunities for sweeping up fun, valuable and cherished gifts while supporting the work of the P.E.A.C.E. Initiative. Come support its 27 year history of servant leadership educating and informing the community of the devastating impact of family and relationship violence. We average 9500 people reached annually in English and Spanish, through workshops, trainings, classroom teachings and conference presentations. We know that when families are safe and do well, the community is safer and does better.
