SING OUT FOR WOMEN
Seattle Peace Chorus presents Sing Out For Women! featuring Cris Williamson, with Nancy Rumbel and works by Carol Sams.
Esteemed singer-songwriter Cris Williamson's album The Changer and the Changed became the soundtrack for a movement. She has championed women's rights throughout her long and brilliant career and was a key player in fostering the birthday of a new genre of "Women's Music" for today's independent female musicians. She joins the highly regarded Seattle Peace Chorus who have performed internationally in the former Soviet Union, Chile, Cuba and Venezuela. Joining Cris in the performance will be Grammy award-winning singer-musician Nancy Rumbel and Seattle singer-composer Carol Sams.
The concert celebrates women's rights, social justice and peace on the eve of a national election where issues related to women's rights are being debated. After decades of progress, women around the world still lack freedom to vote, freedom from violence, freedom of choice over their own bodies, and freedom from repression in any form and from any source. Bring family and friends to honor countless courageous female leaders who have spoken out for women's rights and encouraged others to step up to demand equality.
