GOOD VIBES FOR KURT WEILL
January 14 at 7PM and 930PM brings us legendary vibraphonist and pianist Warren Chiasson presenting "Good Vibes for Kurt Weill". Warren is best known for his work as an original member of the George Shearing Quintet as well as with Roberta Flack. Warren brings with him guitarist Joe Cohn and bassist Alex Gressel.
He will be playing selections from his CD " Good Vibes for Kurt Weill"as well as his personal repertoire of originals and standards.
The instrumentation of vibes, guitar and bass was made famous by the Red Norvo trio with guitarist Tal Farlow and bassist Charles Mingus. Warren played with Tal Farlow and also played opposite Mingus at the Five Spot Cafe and also The Top of The Gate in New York City. His current trio of JOE COHN on guitar and Alex Gressel on Bass continues in this tradition.
The New York Times in a review by critic John Wilson, labeled him one of the top six Jazz vibraphone players of the last half century.
