You don't want to miss what will very likely be the only Christmas, Hanukkah, Solstice, New Year's concert this year! Singer, songwriter, entertainer Christine Lavin and folk-pop trio Uncle Bonsai celebrate all of winter's holidays with a grain of salt and a lot of laughter in the holiday concert, Just One Angel. With the spotlight on fresh, new holiday-themed songs along with favorites from their individual repertoires, Christine and Uncle Bonsai deliver a concert of song you'll never hear in an elevator.
CHRISTINE LAVIN: Multi award winning singer-songwriter-entertainer and folk-pop tradition Christine Lavin sparkles -- literally and figuratively -- in concert. Armed only with a guitar and boundless insight into popular culture, Christine takes the house by storm with her giddy stories, and riotous original songs. Her holiday show is but the latest chapter in an illustrious career that includes 20 albums, eight compilation albums, seven years as a founding member of The Four Bitchin' Babes, three published books and numerous awards including the prestigious 2012 New York City Night Life Award.
Uncle Bonsai performs original, contemporary folk/pop music. With their soaring and intricate three part vocal harmonies and biting humor, accompanied by only an acoustic guitar, Arni Adler, Patrice O'Neill and Andrew Ratshin deliver poignantly unflinching portrayals of life, love, and a guy named Doug. The trio's influences range from the Beatles to Stephen Sondheim. While some describe them as Zappa cross-bred with Peter, Paul and Mary, Loudon Wainright III and The Roches, Bonsai songs focus on the passing of time, the passing of genes, and the passing of pets -- the truth of everything seemingly buried somewhere under the family tree.
