Kamau Right Now!
W. Kamau Bell is back in the Bay Area and ready to kick off season 2 of his live public radio show/podcast Kamau Right Now! Kamau aims to create a "three ring circus of relevance" as he and his guests and a live audience try to figure out what is going on right now. There will be provocative conversation and awkward talks. There will be respectful debates. There will be much laughter (and probably a few hugs, too).
On January 19th (inauguration eve), Kamau and friends will take stage at Laney College's Odell Johnson Theater. Helping Kamau examine this very terrifying, but hopefully unifying point in our history will be Professor Ian Haney López, Pastor Michael McBride, and Feminist Muslim, Iranian-American comedian Zahra Noorbakhsh.
In 2016, the East Bay Express deemed the Kamau Right Now! podcast "Best in the east bay".
About W. Kamau Bell: W. Kamau Bell is a sociopolitical comedian who is the host of the Emmy Award nominated, hit CNN docu-series, United Shades of America. Before United Shades, Kamau was best known for his critically acclaimed, but criminally short-lived FX comedy series, Totally Biased with W. Kamau Bell. The New York Times called Kamau the most promising new talent in political comedy in many years. Kamau is also proud to be the ACLUs Ambassador of Racial Justice. In the podcast world, Kamau keeps busy as co-host of "Politically Re-Active" with his friend, comedian Hari Kondabolu, and co-hosting "Denzel Washington is The Greatest Actor of All Time Period", with his friend Kevin Avery. His forthcoming book, The Awkward Thoughts of W. Kamau Bell: Tales of a 6' 4", African American, Heterosexual, Cisgender, Left-Leaning, Asthmatic, Black and Proud Blerd, Mama's Boy, Dad, and Stand-Up Comedian (Dutton) will be published on May 2nd, 2017.
