"Time-Shifting" - An Experimental Multimedia and Live Performance Event
"Time-Shifting" an experimental video, film, performance and live music event will hit Art House Productions, in the downtown Jersey City area, on Saturday, October 6. The show features live music scores by Stars Bars and Mars, set to John Zorn's TREATMENT FOR A FILM IN 15 SCENES by the filmmaking group Gobolux. The Smoove Sailors, an electro-acoustic group, will create live sound patterns to found film footage from the 1950s and 1960s. The evening will also include an innovative film-driven dance performance by Nicole Daunic and Christian Science Minotaur, called "Telescape", "Interior Outpost", an experimental film by Bill Brand, as well as 16mm films by Zack Lischer-Katz and "Image in Likeness", a video project by Jacqueline Arias both of who curated the show, and acted as associate producers. This event is produced and marketed by Unpainted Emporium Productions, LLC. Art House Productions is located at 1 McWilliams Place, Jersey City; the show starts at 8pm, tickets are $15 in advance, and $20 at the door.
The performances in this event are designed to highlight the technical modes of time shifting, a term that was coined in the early days of television. Each will demonstrate what happens to memory and the human body as sensory experiences are processed through electronic impulses, chemical reactions and physical responses. We are all inundated by stimulus daily without thinking about how it affects us or what it means going forward this show will change perceptions, and make us think a little more about the path we are on at the moment.
Unpainted Emporium Productions, LLC, is a Jersey city-based company that supports the arts by producing live performance events throughout Hudson County. Art House Productions is a nonprofit theater founded in late September, 2001 that provides quality performance space and educational programming, and is a driving force for the arts community in Jersey City.
