Tom Waits, gruff of voice and grim of wit, is one of Americas greatest songwriters. His roots rock catalog has been an inspiration to generations of musicians. Host Michael Eck will guide us through an evening of Waits' songs performed by Capital District artists.
Headlining the show is none other than SEAN ROWE, known internationally for his powerful original songs and raw baritone voice. He is a superb interpreter of songs by Leonard Cohen, Richard Thompson, Lucinda Williams, and now Tom Waits.
GIRL BLUE is the latest breakout from Albanys fertile new music scene. She'll follow her Caffè Lena debut with a show at Manhattans Bowery Ballroom. Caffè favorite MARK TOLSTRUP is a fiercesome blues man soaked in Delta roots. ELROD, MOTHERJUDGE, McWATTERS is a powerhouse trio assembled specifically for The Heart of Saturday Night.
Saratoga writer THOMAS DIMOPOULOUS will add a literary angle to The Heart of Saturday Night. And host Michael Eck will join in with the beautiful maladies, singing between acts.
