In this illustrated talk, author and performer Trav S.D. will offer a look at screen comedian W.C. Fields' growth from humble sideshow and dime museum juggler to sketch comedian and one of the biggest stars of sophisticated Broadway revues like the Ziegfeld Follies, George White' Sandals and Earl Carrol's Vanities. Along the way meet the glittering stars he shared the limelight with like Louise Brooks, Fanny Brice, Will Rogers and Eddie Cantor.
Writer and performer Trav S.D. is a is a key figure in the New Vaudeville, Burlesque and Indie Theatre movements. He is best known for his critically acclaimed 2005 book No Applause, Just Throw Money: The Book That Made Vaudeville Famous and as the original director and producer of the 2014 revival of the Marx Brothers 1924 show Ill Say She Is.
