New Cross and Deptford Free Film Festival in conjunction with St Catherine's Church and The Telegraph Hill Centre, are hosting a special Christmas screening of the classic musical Meet Me In St Louis, starring Judy Garland, Mary O'Brien & Margaret Astor.
Musical numbers include favorites Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, Meet Me in St Louis and the Trolley Song.
The film was directed by Vincente Minnelli who fell in love with Judy on the set and then later they married and went on to have Liza.
She later remarked he was the first director who made her feel beautiful on screen.
The Story
In the year leading up to the 1904 St. Louis World's Fair, the four Smith daughters learn lessons of life and love, even as they prepare for a reluctant move to New York.
For those film fans who are interested, after the interval we will be showing the making of the film, which includes interviews with the cast.
