31st Annual Classical Piano Fest
AKIMI FUKUHARA (proposed program: Kreisleriana, Op. 16, a composition in eight movements by Robert Schumann for solo piano.) A native of Osaka, Japan, Akimi started her career in Tokyo at age of thirteen. She has appeared in solo and chamber programs such as Alice Tully Hall, Carnegie Hall, Kennedy Center, Salle Cortot in Paris, Bertramka Villa in Prague, and throughout Japan. Ms. Fukuhara performed with Palo Alto Philharmonic, World Youth Symphony Orchestra in Interlochen and received top prizes at the 5 Towns Music Competition, the San Jose Young Artists Audition, and the Joyce Dutka Instrumental Competition. JOEL FAN: (proposed program: Rachmaninov Sonata No. 2 in B-flat minor; Kirchner Little Suite; Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue). As a member of the Silk Road Ensemble Joel has appeared with Yo-Yo Ma in Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., and appeared on Good Morning America and Late Night with David Letterman. Mr. Fan has performed as soloist with numerous orchestras, including the NY Philharmonic and Royal Stockholm Philharmonic. His debut album, World Keys, charted at #3 on Billboard's Classical Chart.
