The Library at Night
Drawing inspiration from Alberta Manguel's The Library at Night(a series of essays on the idea of the library), Colin McAllister's captivating recital takes the listener on a literary, musical and historical journey through time and place. Colin interweaves music alongside poetry, historical vignettes and visual imagery in an engaging concert-length presentation. The compelling selection of music includes masters of medieval, Renaissance and Baroque polyphony, the first "Golden Age" of the guitar, sensual rhythms from Latin America and Spines, a new piece by award-winning composer Christopher Adler. Join us for an unforgettable evening in The Library at Night and experience a feast for the ears, eyes and mind.
Colin McAllister pursues a creative life as a guitarist, conductor and historian. He has performed throughout North America and Europe, including as a guest artist with the San Diego Symphony, Colorado Symphony and the La Jolla Symphony. He is the conductor for the ensemble NOISE, and a co-founder of the SoundON Festival of Modern Music. Colin has recorded with several music labels and has two publications. He currently serves as the Coordinator of the Music Program and Lecturer in Music and Humanities at the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs.
