Politic Man
Dr Alfred Salter and his wife Ada work unstintingly in hungry Bermondsey to close the gap between rich and poor. But in doing so they lose their only child to one of the diseases he seeks to cure. This play explores the antithesis between the public and the private face of politicians and asks if it is ever possible to stick to your principles at all times. It is the true story of Alfred Salter and his wife Ada, who between them, stood for local, mayoral and parliamentary elections throughout their lives. Salter and his wife proved that moral values and integrity could walk hand in hand with leadership. Through their eyes, Alison Mead is asking what leadership really is. Three4all theatre was founded after the success of Ellen, a new play written by Alison Mead and performed at the Henley Fringe Festival in 2009.
Three4all exists: To promote new writing and rarely performed classical work for audiences of all ages and backgrounds. To create new theatre outside conventional boundaries and at venues which are not specific theatre spaces. To offer opportunities to creative individuals who may be excluded from the theatre making process. To include live music as an integral part of rehearsals and performances. Three4all is committed to providing work for older actors, particularly women, as well as recent graduateswho will benefit from creative opportunities.
