Chippewas of the Thames Fundraising Dinner
Come out for an evening of great food, entertainment and information in support of the November 30 Supreme Court case of the Chippewas of the Thames First Nation (COTTFN)!
Starting at 5:30 p.m., there will be appetizers and a silent auction with generous prizes donated by local businesses. Then an Indigenous drumming group will set the tone for the evening, and guests will dine on an Indigenous-inspired sit-down menu*. During dinner you will hear words from Myeegun Henry who is a leading and inspiring spokesperson for the COTTFN, and Judy Rebick. Singer-songwriter Eve Goldberg will perform after dinner while you can continue to bid on items in the silent auction.
The funds will go towards COTTFN's $400,000 Supreme Court appeal of the National Energy Board's approval of the reversal of Enbridge's Line 9. This 40-year-old pipeline runs from Montreal to Sarnia and crosses more than 100 crucial waterways. Enbridge wants to use this pipeline to transport highly corrosive bitumen and tar sands oil. That is why the Chippewas of the Thames are fighting back and standing up for their rights to the land, and their rights to their livelihood. This is where we need your help!
