Those Willows Album Release Show w/ Lenore
Show Time: 9pm, 21+
Those Willows:
Portland based Indie Pop band Those Willows began almost 10 years ago when Jack Wells and Mel Tarter met in the suburbs of Detroit, MI. Since then, they have grown to a four piece band and evolved their sound with Motown, folk and soul influences.
With three releases, tours around the US, and songs appearing on MTV, VH1 and Bravo, Those Willows will hook you with their vice grip vocal harmonies and magnetic energy.
This show will be celebrating the release of their self-titled, full length album.
Co-written over the 4 years since their migration to the west coast, Those Willows features ten songs that serve as something of a forum for the couple to talk honestly about their life together. Relationship autonomy is a frequent subject, and also included are a peppering of other musings conceived through their relocation. In Mitten State and A Dream I Had, the pair observe gentrification from both ends of its spectrum, Portland and Detroit both being cultural meccas at different stages of that process.
Lenore:
The coming together of Joy Pearson and Rebecca Marie Miller as Portlands newest folk outfit, Lenore., is serendipitous to say the least. After individually hitting rock bottom Pearson following her divorce and Miller after a period of destitution in LA the pair separately turned to songwriting in the search for a still point in their turning worlds.
After several years of lending their abilities to other projects, including Saddle Creeks The Mynabirds, and Portlands own The High Water Jazz Band, they finally found themselves spinning on the same axis when a chance meeting through mutual friend, Pokey LaFarge, sparked an immediate connection. A drunken night ensued, and before theyd even scoped each others material they had committed.
Now, just over a year since the fateful night, and Lenore. can boast having performed at legendary Pacific Northwest venues including Mississippi Studios, Alberta Rose Theater, and Doug Fir Lounge in Portland, as well as the Sunset Tavern in Seattle, opening for the likes of Eric Bachmann and ex-collaborators, The Mynabirds. They are frequently accompanied onstage by seasoned Portland musicians Edward Cameron(guitar), Jessie Detweiler(cello), and Daniel Hunt(drums).
Lenore. released a three-track Living Room Sessions EP in January of 2016 and will continue to showcase their melancholic blend of vocally driven folk and Americana as they prepare their debut full-length for expected release in 2017.
