New York Nineteenth Century Society Fall Soiree & Benefit Concert!
The New York Nineteenth Century Society (nyncs.org) is hosting a fall soiree and benefit concert to raise much needed funds that are necessary to support their many historically focused educational programs and events.
This year the the soiree and benefit concert is at the Morgan in Bushwick, Brooklyn! This easy-to-reach, spacious venue is literally one block away form the Morgan L stop, a twenty-minute ride from downtown Manhattan.
Some of the performers who have graciously donated their time to performing at the event are 'Eden and John's East River String Band', 'Painless Parker' and 'Psyche Corp', with more local steampunk acts to come!
Join us and the rest of New York City's fabulous steampunk community in what will surely be a grand ol' time for a very worthy cause.

Eden and John's East River String Band- Drawing from the vast spectrum of traditional American country blues music, Eden & John's East River String Band create some of the most authentic sounding renditions of songs from the 1920's and early 30's. Focusing on both well known and lesser known country blues and some popular music from this era, their love and deep reverence for this music shines through in every song. Founded in 2006 the New York City based duo have released four albums and toured the US, Canada and Europe.
Painless Parker- Behind the moniker is the musical output of one Noam Berg, an American-Israeli-Canadian no-goodnik whose zeal for music far outstrips any actual talent. What started out as a sandbox for ideas new and old slowly but surely mutated into a proper stage act which combines traditional and popular tunes with Painless Parker originals. The result is a mixed bag of country laments, sea shanties, murder ballads and classic rockers, filtered through a grimy, whiskey-stained punk lens.
Psyche Corp.- is named after a dream manufacture group from a future where widespread neural implants have allowed people to jack their nerve endings directly into the internet and download dreams. Songs deal in dystopian themes as well as the surreal psychological landscapes of sleeping minds. The musical style spans genres; a recent song has mixed tribal singing with classical piano while embedding poliovirus DNA into its percussion.
