Friends and Lovers
IDT presents, Friends and Lovers, an evening of impassioned dance and touching humanity.
Shakespeares language is brought to life in voice and movement in a beautiful and moving work by the same name, choreographed by Artistic Director, Marla Hansen, performed to live spoken word of the Sonnets relating to love and relationships.
The performance includes the premiere of Love to Cher, her life and music, choreographed by the very talented choreographer and IDT company member, Taylor Munson. It features Yurek Hansen/ Zackary Anderson and all ten of the IDT female dancers performing to Ive Got You Babe, Bang Bang, You Havent seen the Last of Me, and Believe.
Alyssa Tolman's complete screen dance film of Marla Hansens pas de duex, Home, featuring Yurek Hansen and Sayoko Knode will be premiered. This beautiful collaboration filmed in the Boise train depot takes us to the moment when two lovers are reunited.
IDT will also present Caballa, choreographed by Fred Hansen to the music of Astor Piazzollas nuevo tango. This poignant yet humorous work was first performed in 1990 with standing ovations and stands the test of time.
Plus a new work for the entire company performed to the incredible instrumental music from Nine Inch Nails Ghosts, with choreography by Marla Hansen, Alyssa Tolman and Yurek Hansen. This work explores our isolation in a world that is beset with technology and social media. We connect but do we really reach each other? Visualize a group of people all sitting at a table together for a meal and each person is staring at their phone, no one talking with each other. What can be done, what should be done? Just a suggestion: LIVE experiences. Come to the theatre!
