Violinist, composer and producer Jeff Gauthier was recently named #4 Rising Star violinist and #1 Rising Star producer in the 2012 Downbeat Critic's Poll. From classical to jazz, to fusion to new and improvised forms, Gauthier's music is informed by the many great artists he has worked with. As a violinist he has performed and recorded with Yusef Lateef, Adam Rudolph, Nels Cline, Alex Cline, Mark Dresser, Todd Sickafoose, Vinny Golia, Steuart Liebig and many others. Gauthier's ensemble, The Jeff Gauthier Goatette has recorded six CDs, and celebrates its 20th anniversary in 2012. Gauthier is founder of Cryptogramophone Records, and co-producer of the Angel City Jazz festival. He currently serves as Executive Director of the Jazz Bakery.
