Once Upon A River, featuring Dan Chouinard, Butch Thompson, and the Chorus of Marty Harding
Please join us for an amazing gathering to celebrate the St Croix River and the 100th anniversary of the National Park Service. Dan Chouinard, acclaimed pianist and accordionist, Butch Thompson, renowned jazz pianist and John Chouinard with the River City Quartet will present a performance of Once Upon a River. Conductor Marty Harding will bring 30 members of the Festival Chorus (and a few Marine locals !) to richly fill the venue.
At last coming to the historic town of Marine on St Croix, the program has been performed at the Festival Theatre for over 10 years in celebration of the St. Croix River and Earth Day. With typical Dan Chouinard style, the program will include a poem or two from Laurie Allmann, and interviews with a scientist, a park ranger, and a farmer, all of whom share a deep love of the river and its land. Local photographer Gary Noren will enhance Once Upon a River with photographic images upon a big screen, reflective of his time as Artist in Residence at Pine Needles, just north of Marine on St. Croix. $35.00 -General admission $50.00 -Preferred seating
** Doors open at 6pm, celebration starts at 7pm**
THIS IS A FUNDRAISER FOR THE MARINE LIBRARY ASSOCIATION; All proceeds from the program will enhance operations and programming at the all volunteer Marine Library.
Generous support from the St. Croix Valley Foundation, the National Park Service, Festival Theatre, the St. Croix Master Watershed Stewards and the St. Croix Watershed Research Station.
