Jeff Crosby returns to Boise, ID for a run of shows that is representative of his musical growth in Idaho. Boise has a rich and growing tradition of music in the city that Jeff is honored to be a part of and wants to pay tribute to the scene that raised him.
"I saw this soul-singer Allen Stone was doing a run of shows in Seattle (where he's from) at all the different venues he'd played along the way to where he is now. Really got me thinking about what a significant part these venues downtown in Boise had played in my own personal growth as an artist. Must be hundreds of nights I've spent either being inspired watching bands or playing with my own band at each of these places. These are the venues that allowed us to showcase new material, see what worked live and what didn't, and let loose before taking the songs on the road. Boise and Idaho in general are a huge part of how I've grown and evolved musically and I've been wanting to do this for a few years now."
The run kicks off Thursday 10/27 at Pengilly's with an "unplugged" night of old songs and traditional covers in a more country/bluegrass/in the round type of format. "Pengillys hosts some of the best local songwriters and musicians in town. From seeing bands like The Jeremiah James Gang way back when, Jonathan Warren & The Billygoats legendary Wednesdays, Tylor & The Train Robbers nowadays, The Frim Fram 4 on Thursdays, Rebecca and Rob's famous Monday open mic night, list goes on...this is usually my first recommendation to people headed out on the town and my first stop when rolling back into Boise."
The next night, Friday 10/28 moves on to The Reef with one set with The Refugees and one set with his old band Equaleyes (w/ the original line-up of Daniel "The Hawk" Blumenfeld on keys, Will Prescott on drums, and Brian Louderbough on bass). Notorious for playing and throwing some of the best parties in Idaho (and many many nights at The Reef), this show will pay tribute to some of the rowdy evenings from the old Equaleyes days.
The run ends on Saturday 10/29 for an evening with Jeff Crosby & The Refugees at the Idaho famous Neurolux. This night will feature special guests and showcase the last two albums All Nighter and "Waking Days" along with new songs from the upcoming album due beginning of next year. This will be Jeff's first time back at the venue since a sell out night last year on the "Waking Days" tour.
