Classical Mandolin Society Concert Series - Modern Mandolin Quartet
This concert is the second of three public concerts presented in conjunction with the 2016 Classical Mandolin Society of America Convention to be held in at the Radisson Hotel in Valley Forge, PA, from November 2-6.
This Friday night concert feature the Modern Mandolin Quartet (MMQ), founded in the mid-1980s by Mike Marshall and Dana Rath. The current personnel list includes Dana Rath and Matt Flinner (mandolins), Radim Zenkl (mandola), and Adam Roszkiewicz. The critically acclaimed group has released seven CDs over the years and appeared on numerous Windham Hill samplers. The group's 2011 CD, "Americana," garnered a Grammy nomination.
The evenings first set will include a variety of duo, trio, and quartet configurations, including Philadelphia's own Munier Orchestra Quartet and Sycamore Trio, consisting of mandolin, guitar, and accordion. MMQ's Radim Zenkl and Adam Roskiewicz will also perform together as a duo during the first set. During the second set, the MMQ will present a diverse program of their own signature arrangements and compositions.
