TomatoFare celebrates the spirit of the season's harvest and encourages home gardeners to carry on the honored tradition of seed-saving and growing their family's own organic heirloom tomatoes. It truly is a unique community festival for food & wine lovers, chefs, family gardeners and farmers. It's a celebration of life! TomatoFare's mission is to create an ample supply of locally grown organic Heirloom Tomatoes and make our state the largest grower of heirloom tomatoes in the Pacific Northwest. Another mission is to bring growers and chefs together. For more information visit http://tomatofare.com or write martinringhofer@aol.com. Admission tasting of 85+ varieties of Heirloom Tomatoes, Wine, food, and great entertainment by the well-known Michael Carlos Band from Wenatchee.
Michael Carlos, 39, musician, singer and songwriter blends an eclectic mix of musical styles with razor-sharp lyrics to create compositions that have earned him critical acclaim and a growing fan base in the Pacific Northwest. Currently based in Wenatchee, Washington, Carlos grew up California's San Joaquin Valley. As a Latino child adopted by Caucasian parents, Carlos was often mistaken as the son of migrant farm workers. His experiences living in San Joaquin Valley's cultural divide and the search for his own identity has helped to shape his music, which critics have lauded for covering a "wide range of musical territory." Carlos draws from a diverse array of styles, ranging from indie rock, alt-country, Latin, pop and blues. He sees his music as one way of bridging the cultural divide and connecting with his audiences, both white and Hispanic.
The fusion of heritage could have something to do with his eclectic taste in music. He blends punk, Latin, blues, country, alternative, jazz and folk as well as something he calls "cheesy classic rock." This creates a live stage show that could lead to anything.
His band is made up of bassist Eric Frank, Vern Smith on percussion, Darren Reynolds on drums, Sergio Cuevas on guitar, Andy Cuevas on violin, Cathie Lau on cello and Angel Saavedra on percussion and backup vocals. The Michael Carlos Band was named Northcentral Washington's favorite musician/band in 2005 in a Wenatchee World readers poll. He's performed as a solo acoustic folksinger as well as played with a number of bar bands around the NW before forming his own band a few years ago.
