Kevin Aviance : Encore Performance "The Lost Sessions"
Join us October 2, 2016 for an encore performance of 'Tall-Tale Kabarettart' featuring Paper Magazine's best dressed club personality of all-time alumni Kevin Aviance in: THE LOST SESSIONS
HATE cant keep a good queen down". - Kevin Aviance
He's had 7 number one singles on the Billboard music charts, worked with icons of pop, fashion and art and yet arguably his most famous moment found him waking up in a hospital bed with his mouth wired shut. Kevin Aviance has had a career that one would swear was torn from a movie of the week, constantly updating in real time.
Performer. Artist. Musician. Designer. Nightclub legend. The very essence of the NYC nightlife underground come together and channel through the body and sound of Kevin Aviance.
With four #1 Billboard Dance hits, over 10 groundbreaking music videos and a fan base stretching from New York to Tokyo, Kevin Aviance is an icon; a style icon for his gender bending avant-garde fashions, a dance icon in the international dance music scene, and his proud presence, political activism and his command of the Queens English has made him an LGBT icon. Kevin has always been here for our entertainment, so what about the stories in-between the glamour?
The Lost Sessions are the legends, the myths and autobiographical tall-tales that comprise Kevin Aviance 'Kabarettart' (thats German, gurl).
Performance at 8:30 PM Music and Atmosphere by Uri Dalal Limited Engagement Tickets Available at http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/2598178 $15 via web, $20 at door
Kevin Aviance was born and raised in Richmond, Virginia along with his seven siblings, where he honed his skills at grabbing attention through music, dance and theater in the basement of his house. Citing influences from Grace Jones, Boy George and David Bowie, Kevins career as a performance artist and club personality began in Washington DC when he was indoctrinated into The House of Aviance, a community of DJs, singers, actors, drag queens, visual and performing artists, founded by house mother Juan T. Williams. After a hot stint in Miami, Kevin eventually moved to the epicenter of the club and music scene in the 90s: New York City, becoming the undisputed queen of nightlife at clubs like Sound Factory, Arena, Twilo, & Roxy. He has collaborated with DJs and producers including Junior Vasquez, Victor Calderone, Basement Jaxx, Deep Dish, François Kevorkian, DJ Gomi, Danny Tenaglia, Tom Stephan, Johnny McGovern, Ari Gold, Grammy Award-winners Peter Rauhofer and Hex Hector and two time Grammy nominated Tony Moran on his sophomore album Entity (Emerge Records) which spawned two #1 dance hits, Alive and Give It Up. His debut album, Box Of Chocolates (Wave Records) introduced Kevins hard-hitting sound with the club hit, Cunty, currently being covered by Jennifer Lopez in her Vegas show. He has performed alongside Whitney Houston, Cher, Lil Kim, Mary J. Blige, Natalie Cole, Cyndi Lauper, Janet Jackson, Bette Midler, and was featured in Madonnas Secret video. Kevin has also appeared in films such as Freaks Glam Gods and Rock Stars, Naked Fame and Punks.
Kevin brought much needed attention to the epidemic of hate crimes when he himself was the victim of one in 2006 making national news and bringing Kevin onto The Tyra Banks Show. In 2015 Aviance received the Living Legend award at this years GLAM awards and released his third studio album mixtape called RAW; A collaboration with producer M. Arana and a tribute to the underground sleeze scene. Kevin is thrilled and honored to receive his knighthood by the Imperial Court for the 30th anniversary of the Night of a Thousand Gowns.
