2017 Palace Film Festival
The Palace Film Festival, showcasing cutting-edge contemporary work from select artists working at the intersection of art, film, and music, will have its third consecutive iteration Saturday January 28 (2:30pm8pm) and Sunday 29 (2:30pm8pm), 2017. The program is comprised of local, national, and international artists working in photography, music, new media, film, video, and performance. Join audiences in Chicagos Pilsen neighborhood at historic Thalia Hall to experience interdisciplinary artwork that pushes and pulls at the boundaries of these ever-evolving mediums. On the heels of its first and second year successes, the Palace Film Festival is proud to present a two-day program featuring film short and experimental films, a feature length film, live on-site performances, and panel discussion with featured director Actually Huizenga, Palace Film Festival curator Heather Gabel, writer & critic JR Nelson, and Aspect/Ratio gallery director Jefferson Godard.
The festival continues its signature live musical accompaniment to original video works programming. Detroit's collaborative artists Kuperus + Miller (aka ADULT.) will debut an engaging new live performance created especially for The Palace Film Festival on Saturday. Breaking from their traditional ADULT. show, the duo will present a forty minute piece incorporating visual and more performative elements. The 2017 edition also welcomes Brooklyn-based artist/multi-instrumentalist Robert Aiki Aubrey Lowe (Om, Lichens) who will be closing the event Sunday evening.
An official After-Party will take place with event partner The Empty Bottle on Saturday, January 28, 2017 featuring a live performance by Brooklyn-based electronic duo Xeno + Oaklander, with Champagne Mirrors, Simulation, and DJ Brett Naucke.
