You're invited to Commonwealth Brewing Co's Sour Barrel Program debut on September 2, 2016 at 7:30pm featuring two insane sours, Hippolyta and Penthesilia, with food pairings by Commune! This cocktail style event will be held in the Commonwealth Barrel Room with a guided pairing and discussion. Our friend and sour savant Mike Tonsmiere, aka The Mad Fermentationist, will be here celebrating with us!
Hippolyta is a rich 7.2% ABV red wine barrel aged Oud Bruin made with a ton and a half of whole figs and blackberries. Her sister Penthesilia is another Oud Bruin style aged 9 months in red wine barrels and then foeder aged on one and a half tons of whole medjool dates and tart cherries. Both beers were aged for a combined 11 months and bottle conditioned with decadent, delicious results.
Our friends at Commune have created two amazing locally-sourced 4 course pairings to complement each beer. The accompanying menu will be released in 2 weeks. In addition to 8 small plates, tickets include a welcome pour and 2 sour pours.
Tickets are $85 and the event is limited to 50 people. Doors open at 7pm in the Barrel Room.
As an added bonus, guests will have the opportunity to pre-purchase/reserve up to 8 bottles per style, per person, while the subsequent general public sale will be limited to 6 per style. The Hippolyta and Penthesilia bottle release will be Sept 11, 2016 in the Commonwealth Tasting Room.
We are so excited to share our love of sour beers with you all for the first time!
