Maria Grand's DiaTribe
Maria Grand is rapidly imposing herself as one of the cutting-edge creative saxophonists of her generation. While pushing boundaries through exciting and volatile compositions with her quartet, she also works as a sideman with Steve Coleman's m-base. Her music at the time suggested an organic synthesis of post bop and funk, though he was already thinking more broadly. She began forming conceptual links to all manner of complex systems. Maria Grand's DiaTribe will kick off the Series @ the cell with a 2 week residency. David Bryant, piano | Rashaan Carter, bass | Matt Brewer, bass | Jeremy Dutton, drums | special guest Roman Filiu, alto sax.
