TCCAN's "Cabaret Fest" has three components, and audience/community is welcome at one or all!
*Spotlight: See Cabaret in Action! TCCAN Members will each be performing 10-minute sets of songs and stories. Perhaps you've attended our Cabaret Salons at the Town House Bar in St. Paul. Consider this our Salon-a-thon! We're expecting 20+ TCCAN Members to perform. We invite you to enjoy the full roster or come and go as you like! Saturday, October 1, 5-9:30PM
*Behind the Scenes: Catch a sneak peek at the preparation and development of Cabaret via our "Cabaret Back to Basics Workshop" presented by TCCAN Members Dorothy Doring, Erin Duffy, and Rhonda Laurie. Then listen and learn as Guest Teaching Artists (and local cabaret aficionados) Ben Krywosz, Melissa Hart, and Andrew Cooke provide their perspectives on cabaret in the Twin Cities and work with selected TCCAN Members on song interpretation and patter development. Sunday, October 2, 2-5PM
*Soiree: A key tenet of TCCAN is to foster a supportive community of cabaret artists and friends! Join us for an informal social opportunity, meet Members of TCCAN, enjoy refreshments, and hobnob after the "Behind the Scenes" workshop. Sunday, October 2, 5-6PM
---------------------------------------- Who and What is Twin Cities Cabaret Artists Network (TCCAN)?
When people hear the word Cabaret, they often think of Liza Minnelli and Joel Grey, burlesque and variety shows. Cabaret, as a genre, has many interpretations. TCCAN describes it as personal storytelling by the vocalist through song interpretation. Devoted to the intimacy of the moment, the singer creates a unique connection with the audience through words and music. Twin Cities Cabaret Artists Network (TCCAN) is: A volunteer network of professional artistic singers, accompanists, and directors committed to creating a vibrant and active cabaret scene in the Twin Cities; Dedicated to forging the scene ourselves by discovering and creating new venues and opportunities for cabaret performance; A collaborative group that works by committee and meets quarterly with a strong interest in supporting one another's personal artistic endeavors while simultaneously working towards the common goal of making cabaret a well-known option for the Twin Cities audience.
