Out Of The Box Community Music Festival
Presented by Blues in the Schools/The Sacramento Blues Society
Live Music starts around 3:00PM with a youth band (TBA), Island of Black & White, James Harman & Friends, Café R & B, and The Ray Charles Project w/special guest Linda Tillery.
This is a one day indoor/outdoor immersive family event featuring national, regional and local blues artists, as well as students from the Blues In The Schools programs; music related workshops, inter-active art installations, and craft beer in a park like, semi-rural Sacramento City venue with public transportation accessibility. We are partnering with other non-profit youth organizations and community service providers to bring opportunities that might not otherwise be available to youth and families of the Sacramento area. This includes such hands-on experiences as: mural painting, companion animal training, photography, culinary arts, dance instruction, drum line, instrument making, mask making, guitar and harmonica workshops as well as percussion and songwriting.
Also on site will be representatives from state & community services, such as: public safety, apprenticeship programs, volunteer opportunities & anti-bullying/suicide prevention resources. Attendees will be encouraged to participate in the creation of an inter-active & dynamic community art project (i.e., mural, sculpture, photo montage, graffiti wall, etc.)
