Dancing in the Isles
Rousing Baroque folk and dance music from the British Isles with traditional Irish and Scottish folk tunes, a suite of Jacobean masque music, virtuosic English divisions, and more! Impulsive foot-tapping allowed.
Members of Musica Pacifica: Judith Linsenberg, recorders and whistle, David Morris, viola da gamba, Katherine Heater, harpsichord. Musica Pacifica has, since its founding in 1990, become widely recognized as on of America's premier baroque ensembles, lauded for both the dazzling virtuosity and the warm expressiveness of its performances. They have performed on some the the most prestigious concert series in the U.S., including Music Before 1800 and the Frick Collection, the Getty Museum, the Cleveland Art Museum, The Pittsburgh Renaissance and baroque Society, the Seattle Early Music Guild, and the Houston Early Music Society.
The ensemble has been featured at the Berkeley Early Music Festival three times. The have performed at festivals in Germany and Austria, and have been heard on German National radio as well as on National Public Radio's "Performance Today" and "Harmonia" and on Minnesota Public Radio. Individually, the members of Musica Pacifica have performed with leading metropolitan symphonies and orchestras, as well as teaching at prestigious universities in the US and abroad.
Musica Pacifia's eight CD releases on the Virgin Classics, Dorian and Solimar labels, have won national and international awards, including the highest ratings in several CD magazines.
