The Fortress Louisbourg Association and Parks Canada present Connecting Threads, a day-long event dedicated to women's domestic arts.

Connecting Threads offers four workshops, each one highlighting a traditional domestic craft that women of 18th century Louisbourg were skilled in.

Workshops will be taught in dyeing, needlework/embroidery, spinning, and knitting. Each workshop lasts five hours with a lunch break. Participants will receive a short orientation tour of the Fortress site followed by hands-on instruction in traditional techniques to produce an 18th century-style take-home project to finish.

Connecting Threads celebrates the contributions of the colonial woman whose practical creativity helped to clothe her family and contribute to the household economy.

Price: $80 per participant (material not included) (lunch and taxes included)
Participant can register for one workshop only.

Requirements:
Spinning: no experience required.
Dyeing: no experience required.
Needlework/ Embroidery: no experience required.
Knitting: basic knitting knowledge, how to knit and purl.

L'Association de la Forteresse de Louisbourg et Parcs Canada pésentent Les ficelles du métier, une journée entière dédiée aux arts domestiques.

Les ficelles du métier offre quatre ateliers, chacun mettant en valeur un type dartisanat traditionnel auquel les femmes de Louisbourg du 18e siècle excellaient.

Des ateliers seront donnés en couture, teinture, travail à laiguille/broderie, filage de la laine et tricot. Chaque atelier durera cinq heures avec une pause à lheure du midi. Les participants auront dabord une visite dorientation de la forteresse suivie de sessions dinstruction et de pratique des techniques traditionnelles afin de produire un projet de style du 18e siècle à emporter avec soi.

Les ficelles du métier célèbre les contributions de la femme coloniale qui grâce à sa créativité pratique a su vêtir sa famille et contribuer à léconomie de son foyer.

Prix : 80 $ par participant (matériel en sus) (dîner et taxes inclus)
Chaque participant participera à un atelier seulement.
