Join us for a magical evening with Stephen Sondheim, the legendary American composer and lyricist best known for his contributions to the Broadway stage. Described by the New York Times as "the greatest and perhaps best known artist working in musical theatre," Mr. Sondheim's most famous works include "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum," "Company," "Follies," "A Little Night Music," "Sweeney Todd," "Sunday in the Park with George" and "Into the Woods." He is the winner of eight Tony Awards (more than any other composer), including the Special Tony Award for Lifetime Achievement in the Theatre, and an Academy Award for Best Song. He also wrote the lyrics for "West Side Story" and "Gypsy."
The on-stage conversation will be facilitated by Mary Darcy, owner/editor of Alloveralbany.com and former National Public Radio host.
The evening will begin with a special prelude concert featuring the Sonny & Perley Trio performing favorite songs by Stephen Sondheim.
The event is presented by the Cultural Affairs Program at Hudson Valley Community College.
