Behind-the-Scenes Tour: Movember Mustache Tour
Handle bar. Mutton chops. Chin strap. Fu Manchu. Goatee. Neckbeard. Pencil. Shenandoah. Soul patch. Van Dyke. Walrus. Toothbrush. Men in Connecticut have been manscaping for centuriescome see the evidence of facial hair fashion captured in paint, photography, and even wood in our collections. Learn more about what your beard said about you in days past and how ideas about masculinity were written on mens faces.
When you visit our beautiful and informative exhibits, you are actually experiencing only a tiny fraction of the CHS collection. Hanging under muslin, placed carefully on shelves, hiding in drawers, the objects and images that tell the story of Connecticut are waiting to be shared. We invite you to experience that history in a way only a very few can--come and explore with an all-access pass to see hidden treasures of Connecticut history and learn about how museums work. Behind-the-Scenes Tours will be held 8 times a year with changing themes. The tours last approximately 1 hour and take visitors to the non-public areas of the museum to explore the riches of the CHS collections. $10 for CHS members, $15 for non-members Limited space. Preregistration required. Questions? Contact Adult Programs Manager Jenny Steadman via email Jennifer_steadman@chs.org or phone (860) 236-5621, ext. 289.
