The Last Lifeboat
THE LAST LIFEBOAT by Luke Yankee and directed by Dale Kelly tells the story of J. Bruce Ismay, the chairman of the White Star Line. On his father's deathbed, he vowed that he would make him proud by building the biggest, grandest, most opulent ship the world had ever seen the RMS Titanic. As the ship sank Ismay saved as many people as he could, but felt that someone would need to set the record straight back home. With no women and children in sight, he stepped into the last lifeboat. In the aftermath of the sinking he was vilified by the press and endured months of hearings and lawsuits. Ismay then spent the rest of his days haunted by the ghosts of that fateful night.
The Last Lifeboat won Outstanding Production at the Fraser Valley Zone Festival. To help raise funds to compete at Theatre BC Mainstage in Chilliwack in July there will be three shows Thursday June 23rd, Friday June 24th and Saturday June 25th at 8:00pm.
