RANT
Nominated in theBBC Radio 2 Folk Awards2014,RANTis the meeting of 4 of Scotlands finest fiddle players, two from the Shetland Islands and two from the Highlands.Bethany Reid, Jenna Reid, Sarah-Jane Summers and Lauren MacColljoin forces to create a sound rich and vibrant, evocative of the exciting scene they create music in. Using just their fiddles, they weave a tapestry of melodies, textures, layers and sounds. Known for their work as soloists and with various bands, this is a celebration of the instrument they all have a passion for. 4 fiddles: one beautiful sound! Since the release of their debut album 'RANT' in 2013 which won them critical acclaim in the form of a Herald Angel Award for outstanding performance across all the Edinburgh Festivals , the band have made major festival and concert appearances across the UK, Ireland and Scandinavia, and recorded strings forJulie Fowlison her latest album 'Gach Sgeul'. Their new release sees them continue this song strand, collaborating with Fowlis once more, and for the first time, Scots singer Ewan McLennan.

An irresistible journey through reels, strathspeys and jigs Songlines
This is dignified, deep and profound music. fRoots

Kaela Rowan

Since she first started playing sessions and singing in bands in the Scottish highlands, Kaela Rowan has been gaining a reputation for her beautiful voice and uniquely varied repertoire.

In her early 20s she was lead singer with the influential Scottish group Mouth Music (named after the Gaelic singing style) and as a solo artist she released her acclaimed debut album Menagerie in 2014 and graced stages both home and abroad with her own band. Highlights include Woodford Folk Festival in Australia, where she led 80,000 people in Auld Lang Syne at midnight on Hogmanay 2014, and a main stage appearance at RIFF Festival in India in October 2013.

Most recently she joined Shooglenifty for their acclaimed seventh album The Untied Knot, her puirt à beul (mouth music) bringing a dynamic new element to the bands sound. She toured extensively with the Shoogles throughout 2015, and will be on the road with the band again in 2016 including dates in Holland, Australia, New Zealand, Austria, Switzerland, Denmark and India.

In August 2016 Kaela will release her eagerly anticipated second album The Fruited Thorn. Expect a preview of these songs at the gig. They include arrangements of Burnss Now Westlin Winds, the ploughmans lament The Bonnie Woods of Hatton, Blackbird (What a voice), a version of which was sampled by Martyn Bennett on Grit, and the more recently written, and staggeringly beautiful, Gaelic song Eilean Fhianain (St Finnans Isle).

Kaela (vocals, whistle, guitar, ukulele, bodhran) is accompanied by the Kaela Rowan Band, made up of Shoogleniftys James Mackintosh (percussion, guitar) and Ewan MacPherson (guitar, mandolin, jaw harp).
