Great Highway Surf Film Night
The Great Highway surf film evening features the Southern California premiere of Great Highway. The documentary traces the roots of Northern California surfing, which started along the Great Highway in San Francisco. From the lifeguards at Fleishhacker Swimming Pool in the 1940s to kids growing up surfing today, for more than sixty years people have surfed the San Francisco Bay Area far from the limelight reserved for the Southern California surf culture. Much like the city of San Francisco, the surf culture of Northern California is full of character, offering its own perspectives on the history and the future of surfing. While the story is rooted in surfing, the film is as much about the history of San Francisco as it is about the beaches that ring the Citys outer edges. Filmmakers Mark Gunson and Krista Howell will be at the screening to answer questions afterwards
Doors open at 6:30 and the film begins at 7pm. A portion of the ticket sales will again benefit the non-profit Ojai Valley Grange. The Grange is located at 381 Cruzero Street, Ojai, CA A Q&A with the filmmakers and Neal will take place after the screening. A portion of the ticket sales will benefit the Ojai Grange. Thanks in advance for joining us for this very special event
