Weapons of Mass Displacement: Homeless Sweeps, Police Killings, & SF's Crisis of Gentrification
In the midst of the greatest housing and displacement crisis in years, are plans for a new jail, police sweeps of homeless people, rollbacks of SFs historic Sanctuary City protections, attacks on trans people, and police killings. If poor and disinvested communities have always been heavily controlled, how is this situation changing now that these same neighborhoods are changing rapidly? How do we relate between struggles for the right to the City and against displacement, with the struggles for justice and accountability? And what does the outmigration of poor folks and people of color to periphery suburbs means in terms of state social control across the region?
Join us for an urbanIDEA forum with grassroots activists, policy advocates, and you.
