Celebrate Water 2016
On June 8, 2016, the Center for Environmental Law & Policy (CELP) will host its annual Celebrate Water event to commemorate another successful year of CELP's work in Washington State and present the Ralph W. Johnson Award to Professor William Rodgers. Professor Rodgers is recognized as a founder and one of the leading figures in U.S. Environmental Law. His five decade long career has had immense impacts on water resource issues in Washington State, including involvement in numerous court cases in support of Indian tribes and traditional fishing rights and sustainable fisheries in the Pacific Northwest.
The Center for Environmental Law & Policy is a statewide organization whose mission is to protect, preserve and restore Washingtons waters through education, policy reform, agency advocacy, and public interest litigation. Indeed, with climate change reducing our glaciers and threatening our groundwater supply and a growing population spurring more development, water is becoming increasingly scarce in Washington. That shortage makes CELP's work of promoting sustainable use of our water resources more imperative than ever. We hope you can join us on June 8, and raise much-needed funds for CELP's important work in Washington!
A pre-reception CLE workshop will be offered from 4-5 pm: Dams and Salmon in the Columbia Basin: Background and What's Next After Court Rejects Failed Salmon Plan. Speaker will be Steve Mashuda from Earthjustice.
