The South Side Jazz Coalition Presents: Gone But Not Forgotten
If you are a jazz enthusiast or just a lover of music, the names Billie Holiday, Lena Horne, Ella, Louie and Sarah are as familiar as members of your family. But what about Dakota Staton, Irene Reid, Pearl Bailey, Joe Williams and King Pleasure? These artists and others recorded with some of greatest musicians in jazz with unmatched vocals that instantly became classics. On June 19th, we will pay homage to those names that are sometimes forgotten in jazz conversation. We will bring back some great memories and impart a little history all while entertaining you with great music. We will be celebrating Black Music Month and of course we will honor the Dads! All proceeds will be used toward the revitalization of the South Shore Jazz Festival 2017.
