New York Bagel Education: An Evening with Schmendricks at Saul's Delicatessen

Join the folks from Schmendricks Bagels at Saul's Restaurant and Delicatessen for an evening of kvetching about the sub-par bagels of the world, and some much-needed celebration of authentic bagelry.

Everything you wanted to know, but were afraid to ask, about the bagel. Everything you think you know, and much, much more.

The Schmendricks folks will lead you through the origins and history of the modern bagel and conduct a hands-on lesson about how to recognize the good, the bad, and the ugly of the bagel landscape. Enjoy an inside look into what makes some bagels shine, and others just plain sad.

End the evening with satisfying bagel dinner, and inspired bagel-related conversation.

By the end of the class you will be able to...
1. Explain the importance of the bagel as an ethnic food with a history (rather than a generic food that can be found in the grocery store).
2. Recognize the anatomical elements of an authentic New York bagel.
