Lorraine Leckie and Her Demons
Lorraine will be playing songs from her two new albums "Rebel Devil Devil Rebel" and "The Raven Smiled" with Tim Kuhl on percussion and Lola Johnson on Bass and backing vocals.
The Huffington Post calls her New York City's Noir Folk Goddess, and No Depression hails her as the dark princess of the contemporary Greenwich Village folk scene.
Leckies latest album, The Raven Smiled, was named as one of the ten best albums of 2015 by New York Music Daily; Modern Folk commented that the album Reminds, in terms of sound and themes, of the musical chemistry between Nick Cave and Warren Ellis."
Lorraine Leckie is a New York based singer-songwriter.
Lorraine Leckie grew up riding horses in Northern Ontario surrounded by the music of Neil Young. In the seventies she converted to punk rock, married Steve Leckie of the Viletones and started her career as a makeup artist in the fashion industry.
After a decade living in Europe, she put down roots in New York and began working with celebrity clients such as Paul McCartney and Heidi Klum.
It wasnt until the age of 37 that Leckie decided it was time for a change, got a guitar, and was soon performing all over the city playing venues such as Bowery Ballroom, Webster Hall & Mercury Lounge. On stage she is often joined by her band of demons which are Hugh Pool on guitar, Paul Triff on drums and Charles DeChants on Bass.
