SILENT SALON 2016 4 Nights of Picnic & Silent Film with Live Organ
This summer, Silent Salon goes into its 4th season. Curated by renown film historian Cari Beauchamp we will present a summer of comedy featuring the great comediennes of the silent screen.
These powerful women dominated the silent screen during the teens and early 1920s and brought millions of movie goers to theaters every week.
As an added attraction, several of the films will feature Los Angeles locations, giving todays audience a glimpse of what the Southland looked like at the time prepare yourself for crowds at Santa Monica auto races, great swaths of farmland, dirt roads, and the just built Beverly Hills Hotel.

Poor Little Rich Girl (1917, 64 min.) starring Mary Pickford in a film that her producers did not want to release but became a huge hit when Mary played a rambunctious, plucky girl for the first time. Directed by Maurice Tourneur, adapted for the screen by Frances Marion and with oversized props by production designer Ben Carre, Poor Little Rich Girl was ground- breaking at the time.
