Tucson Cine Mexico and Cinema Tropical present the Arizona Premiere of THE THIN YELLOW LINE (La delgada línea amarilla) in advance of its U.S. theatrical release in Tucson on Saturday, April 23 at 7:00pm at Harkins Tucson Spectrum 18.

Director Celso García will appear in person, and will be awarded Tucson Cine Mexico's Jaguar Award for Directorial Debut.

"A palpable pleasure to watch" (Variety), THE THIN YELLOW LINE chronicles five financially strapped men from very different walks of life who are hired to paint the center stripe along 120 miles of Mexican state highway. The dramedy's ensemble cast, led by Damián Alcazar (The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian), includes Silverio Palacios (Y Tu Mamá También) as a motor-mouth former circus stagehand, Américo Hollander as a rebellious teen, Gustavo Sánchez Parra (Amores Perros) as a cynical ex-con, and Joaquín Cosio (Savages) as the driver with failing eyesight.

THE THIN YELLOW LINE swept four awards during its World Premiere at the 2015 Guadalajara Film Festival (Best Screenplay, Special Jury Prize, Audience Award, and Mexican Film Critics Award), and went on to win Best Latin-American Film at the Montreal Film Festival and Grand Newcomer Award at the Mannheim-Heidelberg Film Festival. To date, the film has been screened at 33 film festivals worldwide and won 14 international awards. Short-listed for Mexico's 2015 entry for the US Academy Awards, the film is produced by Guillermo del Toro, Bertha Navarro (Pan's Labyrinth) and Alejandro Springall (John Sayles' Casa de los Babys).

About Celso García: Mexico City born Celso García is a director to watch. Prior to completing The Thin Yellow Line, his short films Pata de Gallo (2004) and Water and Milk (2006) won awards at the Instituto Méxicano de Cinematografía (IMCINE)s National Shortfilm Project Competition. Water and Milk went on to screen at 46 film festivals and win 22 international awards. Celso is currently in pre-production on his second feature film, Velvet.

About Tucson Cine Mexico: A program of the UA Hanson Film Institute (hansonfilm.org), Tucson Cine Mexico is the longest-running showcase of Mexican film in the U.S. This year Tucson Cine Mexico will be represented by this special screening and award ceremony, and then will return in full festival mode in 2017.
