The morning (from 9:00 a.m. to noon) will be:

The afternoon (from 1 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.) will be:
Writing Prompt-a-Palooza (open to all genres of Children's and YA writers)

Morning session 9:00 a.m. to noon:
Introduction to Writing the Middle Grade or Young Adult Novel
What differentiates a middle grade novel from a young adult novel? This 3-hour class will explore the unique aspects of middle grade and young adult fiction including:
The various genres in middle grade and young adult literature
Creating empathetic characters
How to create an engaging opening, build vivid scenes and hook your reader.
Lynn will share some of her favorite middle grade and young adult novels, highlighting elements that make these books successful. You will have the opportunity to tap into your muse with a writing prompt or two, and begin to discover your own unique middle grade or YA voice.
Afternoon session 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.:
Writing Prompt-a-Palooza
You want to write for children or young adults--but perhaps you're not sure how to get started. Maybe you are in awe of other authors but wonder what your voice has to offer children or young adult readers. This class is for you.
This fun, 3-hour afternoon session is filled with writing prompts specially designed to explore your ideas, memories and characters. Then you'll begin to expand your writing into scenes filled with conflict and emotion.
Suitable for beginning as well as experienced writers in all genres of children's and young adult literature.
