Hotels & Highways is a folk-rock trio that plays cabin-grown music somewhere between Ryan Adams and Fleetwood Mac. Or, they were, until they met Australian blues-rocker Mia Dyson by chance and incorporated her into a tour in the summer of 2011. Mia is the recipient and four times nominee of Australia's Aria, a Grammy-equivalent. The quartet found that with Mia in their band playing bass, and by learning to back her up for a set of her music, Hotels & Highways could hit the gas and let loose their latent rock n roll. They are taking to the road one last time as a unified force before Mia heads back to Australia to promote her forthcoming album "The Moment", an album which incidentally was produced by Syd and Pat of Hotels & Highways and features the musicianship of everyone in the band.
These shows are something of a homecoming for H&H members Lisa Piccirillo, Erin "Syd" Sidney, Pat Cupples (the artist formerly known as Patrick Thomas) and Mia Dyson. Hotels & Highways played their first show as a band in front of a packed Lizard as they unveiled the songs that would become 2011 Amazon.com Editor's pick "Lost River", and Mia made quite an impression on the Lizard and Toad scenes when she first touched down from Australia and picked up her crack band of James Hazelwood on bass and Billy Beard on drums.
Each week they will be joined by a fantastic special guest, making each Tuesday in June a delightful opportunity to come see what happens with these folks in a room together.
